Herald of Xotli: Skills

Bandaging - Very helpful for quick recovery from battles in both PVP and PVE. This will be one of the big three point sinks as a HoX because of its great utility, and the lackluster appeal most of the other skills have.

Recovery - Same deal as bandaging, except the first point adds stamina regeneration all together. Each point after that will increase that recovery rate by a very, very small rate (some believe it only increases every 100 points, as with most/all other skills)

Renew Mana - Yet again, same deal as Recovery and Bandaging, except for mana! This won't be entirely helpful early on due to our rather excessive mana pool size, but once you start learning debuffs and the rest of our spells points in this are key. At the moment I have each of these first three skills evened out at about 600 points (lvl80)

Mana Attractor - Adds a chance to gain twice the mana when using Rest, each further point increases the proc chance. This means every time you recover Mana with Rest it has a chance of giving you twice as much mana as usual. Pretty nifty, but Renew Mana gets the job done for the most part, feel free to toss excess points in here though.

Casting Concentration - Considering our main damage spell, Hellfire Breath, can be brought down to a cast time that is only a fraction of a second this isn't nearly as necessary as it is for the other mage classes. The same goes for a majority of our other spells which can be brought down to little or no cast time, or don't have a cast time to begin with. My suggestion would be to test out a few Hellfire Breathes each time you level (because they can still be stopped!) from there put some points into it until you don't have any trouble casting, I currently only have 80 points in this at 80.

Endurance - This lowers the stamina cost of sprinting, but only by an amount that won't even increase your sprint time (in my experience) because it is too little to allow for another sprint stamina drain. I currently have 0 points in this until it is changed, at which point I would only invest in this for PVP.

Run Speed - Increases your Run Speed by a noticeable amount and apparently works on mounts as well (although untested by myself). This is great until 40 at least, obviously 40+ as well if it actually works on mounts, but I think this shines most in PVP for chasing (..and running *cough*)

Climbing - Allows you to climb things of increased difficulty, not required for anything outside of the lvl 30 destiny quest from what I've seen. If you do find you need these points for a quest or something I would recommend dropping your lowest skill/skills (Alt + Left Click), training the points you need in climbing, climb, untrain your reclimbing points and then redistribute them. Might cost you something so make sure it's worth it first of course.

Hiding - Points here decrease your overall chance of being found while hidden and increase your ability to hide in brighter areas. To be honest, hiding is a generally useful skill, especially on a PVP server, and the fact that we wear cloth armor helps us hide even better. But, unless you plan on PVPing a ton, or avoiding PVP a ton, points in this would only be wasted.

Perception - Increases your ability to see enemies regularly (?) and when using the search ability. It also, or at least used to, decrease the use time for search as well. Another skill not too bad for PVP servers/PVP in general, but that's about it. In fact, it really only helps against Barbarians anyway since them getting the first hit usually means death for us.

Subtlety - Causes your attacks to deal less threat by a very small % per point, which still helps A LOT because of our lack of any major -hate% feats outside of the mage tree, and we still have a fraction of the -hate that rogue classes have. This will be your main point sink if you group or raid often (PVE). If you're on of those "PVP" people, this isn't needed at all, so ignore it.
